Select a case study from the School of Information Technology LibGuide.
As you approach course assessments, take into consideration that you report directly to the CIO.
Keep in mind that case studies tend to be ambiguous, so ensure to maintain close communication with the CIO (your professor).
Read the unit’s learning resources, conduct research through the AIU Library, and carefully read this assignment’s requirements. As necessary, formulate questions and send an e-mail to the CIO.
In this course, assessments build chronologically, so you will maintain a single MS Word document for all assignments. Additionally, in Unit 5, you will be asked to submit a PowerPoint presentation and a recording to present your final work.
For the Unit 1 Individual Project (IP), you are to conduct preliminary analysis for the project selected (based on case studies). Preliminary systems analysis includes the following processes:
Gathering, analyzing, and validating information
Defining the requirements
Evaluating alternatives
Prioritizing requirements
In essence, the current system is evaluated, and alternatives are proposed.
Deliverable
Select a case study and address the following:
Create a project mission opportunity statement.
Analyze the organization using SWOT framework; evaluate organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Evaluate key project stakeholders; create a stakeholder registry.
Evaluate 5 important questions that a systems analyst should consider when assessing project priorities.
Evaluate at least 5 preliminary investigation steps for the project selected.
MS Word Document Format
Your MS Word document should follow APA guidelines and consist of 4 pages, including the following:
Title page (does not count toward the 4-page requirement).
Executive summary
Project mission statement
High-level SWOT analysis
Identify project stakeholders
4–5 project priority questions directed to stakeholders
List of preliminary investigation steps
Assignment summary
Briefly reflect on lessons learned in Unit 1 assignments
Sources of information (Reference page, does not count toward the 4-page requirement)
